Thirsty for God

Last week was particularly stressful in my life and in the life of the First Presbyterian Church.. Our organist, Jean Abell, passed away after a year-long struggle with cancer. Jean’s passing was peaceful and hopeful: she longed to see her husband and her brother; and I believe she longed for a kind of music I could only be described as “heavenly.” We all hunger for God – and those of us who believe in Jesus do so knowing that it is through Him that we are satisfied. Psalm 42 begins: As a deer longs for flowing streams, so my soul longs for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. These verses will guide my thoughts today.
