Friday evening we gathered in the football stadium at Greene County High School to celebrate the graduation of the Class of 2012. I was very proud that one of our youth group members was named Valedictorian for the class. As the student with the highest GPA, Deanna was the main speaker. I was proud of her just because I knew her to be an outstanding student, a well-rounded person, and a dedicated Christian who exemplified the traits of her Savior in her valedictory address. She began with the recognition of her nuclear family, but expanded quickly to her larger family – particularly the one at GC HS. After naming various sub-families (jocks, musicians, dancers, nerds, etc.), she proceeded to call every name in the class. Talk about CLASS! I’ll bet this is the way Jesus would have done it!
