Learning to Worship God

Sometimes we confuse worship with “feeling good” about God, mostly through lively, sometimes sentimental music and words. The problem with this is that the feeling goes away as soon as the songs are finished and the words fade from our minds. I learned how to worship God when my parents took us to church as very little boys. Whether we went or stayed home was never an option. In fact, on Sunday morning my father and I got up quite early – I loaded up the backseat of his car with his papers and we delivered them throughout our neighborhood. We made it to church at 8:30 AM – without fail. Through regular worship God became part of my life and has carried me through every kind of experience you can imagine. With the psalmist of old, “bless the Lord O my soul and all that is in me. Bless His holy name and forget not love His benefits.”
