The four weeks leading up to Christmas are highly confused in our culture. Mostly, we have come to think in terms of the number of shopping days that are left before Christmas. We have parties in the power homes, our churches, our offices, and our schools. We light public Christmas trees and singing sentimental carols and other songs that have nothing whatever to do with Christmas. Instead we Christians think in terms of Advent – a hopeful reminder that Jesus is coming again in glory to judge the earth – and the utter charm of the unknown God making Himself known in the child of Bethlehem.
