Lent is a time for us to balance our spiritual lives; to bring our thoughts, words, and deeds into conformity with God’s Word and with His commands to love Him with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength and to love others as ourselves. I had an experience this week that taught me much about the balanced life. Since my spinal cord injury eight years ago I have been stretching and exercising daily. Recently I took another round of physical therapy and was given a new piece of equipment and some new exercises. I felt miserable ever since starting them. The problem was that I was overdoing it – I was unbalanced. So I backed off – I balanced my exercise – and now I feel pretty decent. Blessed are the balanced!
