Last weekend we celebrated my father-in-law’s 90th birthday party with a gala event involving more than 150 people. On Sunday Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee dedicated a room for his papers and artifacts representing his work as a mathematician on the senior staff of Dr. Wernher von Braun from 1951-1969. Beginning in Huntsville as the Army Missile Command, becoming NASA and moving toward the manned moon shot in 1969. My father-in-law made a great contribution to the space program, but perhaps his greatest contribution is the family he raised and is long life as an elder in the Presbyterian Church USA. He has served many terms on sessions in several churches and was always known for his wisdom, his courage, and his willingness to move forward as God leads. I am glad to be part of his family – and I am glad to be part of God’s!
