This week I will attend an Advisory Board meeting for the Pete Nance Boys and Girls Club of Greene County. This is a remarkable organization, only a few years old, but already as made a profound impact on our public schoolchildren and their families. I am proud to be one of many men and women who give their time tutoring and mentoring children in their school work and in their capacity for living successfully. One of my special gifts is the ability to read stories to large groups of children. I love to read dramatically – whispering, shouting, sometimes even singing – and I love to watch the faces of the children that take it all in. What is the most fun is when I work with individual children in reading and hear them breathing dramatically as well! This is how we learn – and this is how we teach. For sure, this is God’s way!
