This week we have been experiencing the various news media, reporting on the Ebola outbreak in Africa and its implications for our country and beyond. As the news media are wont to do the stories – especially the television stories, are often filled with hyperbole and repetition which is always enough to make certain segments of the population cringe in fear. Likewise, the protracted conflict in Israel/Palestine brings all kinds of apocalyptic images to some people and causes fear. Additionally, the situation in Iraq, Russia, and Ukraine keeps us all on edge. I want to encourage you today that you do not need to fear – anything! Take this to heart from Psalm 27: “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?” If you are a believer you must have your heart set on God who exercises a Father’s providential love and care for all his children. This should be enough!
