On Sunday we celebrated World Communion Sunday which is, in a sense, a family reunion of all God’s people throughout the earth, representing all nations, languages, races, cultures, and traditions. It is a sign that we belong to one another in Jesus Christ and we are “family” in the very best and fullest sense of the word. Likewise, here at First Presbyterian in Greensboro we are enjoying a time of welcoming new members of our family as God has called them here. That’s right – we are not a commodity that people shop for. These days we are receiving people who when they come to worship with us on the very first Sunday they believe themselves to be “home.” Wow! This does my heart good because it has nothing to do with marketing or even with me as pastor. We are a congregation that just feels like home to people who embrace the Reformed tradition of theology, worship, and service. God is at work here – praise Him!
