I never cease to be amazed at the length and breadth of Christ’s Body – the Church. Sunday as I looked around the congregation before beginning the worship service I noticed a new couple. I didn’t think too much of it except that within a few seconds they were standing before me at the front of the church and introduce themselves as Keith and Shirley. When Shirley told me that she had taught the College and Career Class at the Forest Hills Presbyterian Church in Tampa, Florida I knew immediately who she was and threw my arms around her. She met her husband in that class – and the rest is history!
I love the Church for two reasons: the Church is Christ’s Body – and I love Jesus more than anything in the world and have given my life for Him; and secondly I love the Church because of the network of deep and abiding friendships that form a global network. Shirley and I talked for no more than a few minutes, but between the two of us we brought to light names of persons that evoke strong memories and warm feelings of love and appreciation.
Like George Bailey in Its a Wonderful Life, I believe I am the richest man in the world!
